Fork in the road

I really enjoy photography. I'm at that point where I actually think it might make me happier than continuing my dentistry ventures but at the same time I don't know if these risks are worth it. I'm facing quite the fork in the road to accept an internship and try to balance work, school, and my photography work or just keep it casual and just continue to keep photography as a hobby. Current aspirations point towards advertising and fashion photography but logically I know that my prior ideas on what I wanted to do in life are definitely more secure. Either way, I'll either be a well established photographer's slave for a while or college/dental school's slave. idk...
